Wilma Johnson

Wilma Sophie Johnson, 81, of Fergus Falls, died peacefully with family at her side on Tuesday, November 2, 2010, at Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls. She was born June 14, 1929, in Arlington, Minnesota, the daughter of Erdwig and Erna (Jaus) Clausen. She graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 1948, and later received a degree in Education from Moorhead State University in 1970. On October 1, 1949, she married Earl Arthur Johnson in Fergus Falls. Throughout her life she and her husband owned and operated several businesses in the Fergus Falls area. She was a devoted member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls, and volunteered with the Lake Region Hospital Auxiliary. Wilma enjoyed spending time at the lake, golfing, card playing, volunteering at church, and spending time with her family and friends. She especially loved her five grandchildren. Baking was a favorite activity with her granddaughters, and preparing the fish caught by her grandsons was a special treat.   Throughout her life Wilma also enjoyed creating many beautiful hardanger and needlepoint pieces that she gave as gifts and displayed in her home. Preceding her in death were her husband, Earl Johnson, and her parents. Survivors include her sons, Jeffrey (Brenda) Johnson of Fergus Falls, and Bruce (Deborah) Johnson of Detroit Lakes; five grandchildren: Jennifer (Alexander) Taves, Erin Johnson, Drew Johnson, Alexis Johnson, and Shay Johnson; her siblings: Elaine Arvilla, John (Joyce) Clausen, Mavis (Soren) Kugler, and Shirley (Harvey) Moen; and many nieces and nephews. She will be sadly missed by all.
