William "Bill" Leeman

William C. “Bill” Leeman, 90, of Fergus Falls, died Friday, November 14, 2014, at Woodland Lodge, Fergus Falls.

He was born September 27, 1924, in Maine Township, Otter Tail County, MN, the son of Milton and Minnie (Nelson) Leeman. He attended country school through the 8th grade in Maine Township. During his young adult years, he worked at Fergus Cab Co., where he met his wife, Margaret Jones. They were married November 18, 1945.

They lived in West Fargo, ND while he was employed by Great Lakes Pipe Company and also Indian Head out of West Fargo. They later moved to Casselton, ND where he worked for Texaco Oil Company for ten years, after which time they moved to Fergus Falls, where he continued to drive bulk delivery trucks for Fergus Oil Company and Olson Oil Company. In 1990 he moved to Underwood and was employed by Service Oil Company, retiring in 1995.

Bill served in the United States Navy as an apprentice Seaman, NTS in Farraqut, Idaho, for three months prior to a medical discharge.

Bill loved motorcycles (owning over 40 of them), playing cards, and Saturday breakfasts with his sons-in-law and grandsons. He also loved spending time with his girls, grandkids and great-grandkids, and reading, and watching John Wayne movies. Many a yard was mowed and gardens tilled by Bill for friends, family and the city of Underwood. He had good work ethics that he passed on to his children and grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents; a daughter, Rebecca Jean Gutz; granddaughter, Nycole Joy Strom; great-granddaughters, Heaven Brown and Angel Lynn Gutz; sisters, Leitha Eliason and Myrna Saunders; brothers, Lyle Leeman and Mark Leeman; brothers-in-law, William Messer, Clifford Saunders, Sanford Saunders, Vernie Eliason, and Jerry Kugler; and a siser-in-law, Clara Leeman.

Survivors include his children, Jacqueline (Daryl) Larson of Tucson, AZ, Patricia (Wayne) Link, Beth Strom and Amy (James) Underdahl all of Fergus Falls; his son-in-law Rick Gutz of Fergus Falls; grandchildren, Kym (Kurt) Nygaard, and John (Angie) Gutz of Fergus Falls, Kyle (Kim) Larson of Moorhead, Sherie (Jeff) Brown of Belton, MO, Kari Link of Fergus Falls, Adam (Sarah) Link of Moorhead, Alex Link of Minneapolis, Andrew (Liz) Link of Minnetonka, Jason (Becky) Lee of Elbow Lake, Jeremy Lee (Fiancé Kaila Hanson) and Amanda Strom of Elbow Lake, Tarra Strom of Rogers, Tyler (Amber) Underdahl of Fargo, ND, Trisha Underdahl of Alexandria and Amber (Seth) Olson of Underwood; great-grandchildren, Kassidy (Darrin) Mahn, Kelsey (Jake) Heck, Kole Nygaard, Kendal Nygaard, Caden and Cammen Larson, Drew, Drake, Kaisha, Jaden, Kacyn, and Miraya Brown, Beckett and McClane Link, Janie and Jozee Lee, Ariana Hedrick, Daxton Thompson, Addison, Bryce and Preston Lee, and Thea, Luke and Madden Underdahl; sisters, Iona Saunders and Shirley (Norman) Long of Fergus Falls and Inez Messer of the Twin Cities; a brother, Bernie Leeman of the Twin Cities; a sister-in-law, Gloria Leeman of ElCajon, CA; his children’s mother, Margaret Housholder of Fergus Falls and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorials are preferred to Lakeland Hospice.

Visitation: 5-7 pm Monday, with a 7 pm prayer service at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church
Service: 11 am Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at the Federated Church, Fergus Falls
