Wendy Johnson

Wendy Jo Johnson, 47, a resident of Fergus Falls, passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls. She had been battling leukemia for several months and developed a case of pneumonia early Monday morning. She was born October 6, 1960, in Northfield, Minnesota, the daughter of Gordon Petter and Charlotte Ann (Cowden) Nelsen. She graduated from Princeton High School in 1979. Wendy worked at the Regional Treatment Center as a Human Service Technician for over 20 years, starting in Cambridge, MN and then transferring to Fergus Falls, MN later in life. She retired a while back due to health conditions. On August 27, 1983, she married Norman Lee Johnson in Barnesville, Minnesota. She married Allan Wayne Johnson on July 24, 1995 in Sisseton, South Dakota.  Wendy was a strong woman who loved helping with the Girl Scout Troop #899, volunteering at McKinley Elementary School, and was an avid member of Grace United Methodist Church, where she was a great supporter of the church’s Blue Softball Team. She had a love for scrapbooking. She was also known to crochet many things for loved ones and had a passion for building rock gardens. She always found time to spend with loved ones and was always the extreme life of every party. Preceding her in death were her mother, Charlotte Nelsen, and an infant brother, Jeff Nelsen. Survivors include her husband, Allan Johnson of Fergus Falls; two daughters: Jolee and Laura Johnson, both of Fergus Falls; her father, Gordon (Doris) Nelsen of Milaca, MN; three sisters:  Melody Nelsen of Fergus Falls, Cheryl (Jim) Riley of Rockford, MN, and Laurie (Jim) Wilcox of Milaca, MN; her mother-in-law, Marion Johnson of Fergus Falls; three brothers-in-law: Larry (Margie) Johnson of Colorado Springs, CO, David Johnson of Fergus Falls, and Jim (Patty) Johnson of Rothsay; step family members: Donna Bruflodt of Princeton, MN, Jeff (Linda) Minks of Milaca, MN, John Minks of St. Cloud, MN, Scott (Cheryl) Minks of Milaca, MN, and Sallie Sueverkruepp of Milaca, MN, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
