Wayne Winter

Wayne M. Winter, 79, a resident of Fergus Falls, passed away Friday, July 31, 2009, at the Pioneer Retirement Community in Fergus Falls. He was a resident there for the last 5 ½ years. He was born February 26, 1930, in Breckenridge, Minnesota, the son of Nick and Viola (Thiel) Winter. He joined the Air Force at the age of 19 after graduating from Wahpeton Senior High School and attending one year at North Dakota State School of Science. He spent the remainder of his adult life working as a glacier in the glass business. Wayne loved visiting with family and friends. His hobbies included woodworking, golfing, and watching sports. He had a certain charisma that touched everyone he met. Preceding him in death were his parents, Nick and Viola Winter, and a sister, Connie. Survivors include his brother, Daniel (Carol) Winter of Battle Lake, MN, and his sister, Ellen (Jerry) Conzemius of Breckenridge, MN; six children: Machelle Ellingson of Fergus Falls, MN, Scott Winter of Pensacola, FL, Patti Bosworth of San Diego, CA, Danny (Carol) Winter of West Fargo, ND, Kristi (Rick) Ford of Mooreton, ND, and Velvet (Pat) Link of Fergus Falls, MN; nine grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and extended family at the Pioneer Care Center. A public prayer service will be held in his memory on Friday, August 7, 2009, at 2 p.m. at the Pioneer Retirement Community Chapel in Fergus Falls with Chaplain Harry Olson officiating. Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls is in charge of arrangements.  Condolences may be sent online at www.olsonfuneralhome.com
