Virginia Elliott

Virginia M. “Virg” Elliott, 87, of Fergus Falls, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, March 10, 2012, at the Sanford Palliative Center in Fargo, North Dakota. Virginia was born April 13, 1924 in Clara City, Minnesota to Richard and Margaret Loeffler. The family moved to Fergus Falls in 1927 where she grew up and attended school. On January 11, 1946 she married Donald Elliott and they resided in Fergus Falls. Virginia was known for her outgoing, friendly personality. She loved being a homemaker, keeping an immaculate home and yard that included her love for flowers. As an enthusiastic bird watcher for years, the birds were also an important part of the backyard landscape. Virginia and Don enjoyed traveling in their motor home, visiting every state except Hawaii. In earlier years, Virginia was an avid golfer and bowler, playing on local leagues. She also loved roller-skating, and actually met Don at the roller rink when she was seventeen. Virginia and Don spent much time roller-skating and dancing. They were excellent roller-skaters and could perform dances on roller-skates that would have been admired by “Dancing with the Stars” fans. Don and Virginia were a couple that enjoyed life together and knew the importance of nurturing mutual love and respect for each other that kept the marriage vibrant for 66 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers: Robert, Daniel and Earl; and two sisters: Dorothy and Helen. Survived include her husband, Don Elliott of Fergus Falls; daughter, Sherie (Lonny) Thimjon of Hopkins MN; granddaughter, Tonia (Nate) Boike of St.Louis Park MN; grandson, Jason (Rachel) Thimjon of St. Louis Park, MN; and five great grandchildren: Kameron, Caden and Jack Boike, and Nadia and Givenson Thimjon. Memorials are preferred to the Lake Region Healthcare Cancer Care and Research Center.
