Victoria Een

Victoria “Vickie” Een, 87, a resident of Fergus Falls, went to be with her heavenly father on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at her home in the Minnesota Veteran’s Home in Fergus Falls.

Victoria was born June 2, 1926 in Union Town, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Ignatz and Anna Cornelick. Her family moved to Rosemont, West Virginia in the 1930’s. She resided in Rosemont until she moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1944 where she met her husband, Oscar Een, who was stationed at Camp Carson. Two weeks after they met, Oscar was deployed for active duty overseas. When he returned home, they were married in Oakland, Maryland February 4, 1946. From 1947 to 1950 the couple owned and operated The Lunchbox restaurant in Henning, Minnesota. They moved to Fergus Falls in 1950. Victoria worked at Broen Memorial Home in Fergus Falls, then at the Fergus Falls Regional Treatment center for 26 years, retiring in 1988. Victoria has been a resident of the Minnesota Veteran’s home since 2008 where she greatly enjoyed the compassionate care, company and companionship from staff and others who reside there.

Victoria was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Fergus Falls and member of VFW Post No. 612 Auxiliary. She enjoyed cooking, baking, shopping, gardening and tending to her flowers. She also enjoyed playing cards with her friends and socializing. Vickie had a strong, caring and giving spirit and a good sense of humor. She was a very loving grandmother and great-grandmother, who was very fond of spending time and caring for her grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Oscar; 3 sisters, Wanda, Mary, Mildred; 2 brothers, Billy & Stanley; and granddaughter, Angela.

Survivors include her sister, Anna(Cornelick) Phillips of Chester West Virginia; her son, Gary (Nancy) Een of Maple Grove, MN; daughter, Barbara South (Randy Pilger) of Doran, MN; six grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, Jesse (Andrea) South of Las Vegas NV, Cassie (Tom) and Koda Spiekermeier of Fargo, ND, Becky and Mikaela Cole of Maple Grove, MN, Nichole Een of Maple Grove, MN, Whitney Pilger of Crookston, MN and Ethan Pilger of Fayetteville, NC. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation: 1 hour prior to service at the church
Service: 1:30 p.m. Thursday, March 27, 2014 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls, Minnesota
