Vernon Lundberg

Vernon Lundberg, 96, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Thursday, October 13, 2011, at the Broen Memorial Home in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. Vernon Clifford Lundberg was born on November 25, 1914, to Gottfred Johnathan Lundberg and Ella Christine (Ruen) Lundberg at their farm outside of Ruthton, MN. He attended country school. He married Josephine Erstad on June 7, 1945. Vernon and Jo had two children, EllenJo Margaret and Gordon James. Vernon farmed most of his life. He worked hard and put in long days, tending his crops and his animals. While on the farm, he raised and/or adopted many dogs. There were times he had up to 40 dogs. Visitors to the farm were always greeted by his four-legged friends. He couldn’t turn a stray away. In 1974 Vernon and Jo retired from farming and moved to Fergus Falls, MN. While in Fergus Falls he worked as a finish carpenter for many years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, pinochle, and wood carving. Many afternoons you could find him in The Spot, shooting pool. Vernon was also a Freemason for many years. Vernon would have been 97 years old on November 25, 2011. He is survived by his son-in-law, Mel White; grandchildren, Mark White, and Amy White; four great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and a lifetime friend, Herb Thompson. Vernon was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine, his daughter, EllenJo, his son, Gordon, his parents, Gottfred and Ella, his sister, Margaret Pehrs, and his brother, Norman Lundberg. Blessed be his memory! A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 12, 2011, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls with Reverend Kate Bruns officiating. Interment will be at Bethlehem Cemetery in Fergus Falls.  Memorials are preferred to Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls is in charge of the arrangements.
