Vernette Elaine Evenson, 89, a resident of the LifeSong Adult Care in Fergus Falls, died Wednesday, July 4, 2012, at her residence. She was born March 29, 1923, in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, the daughter of Gilbert and Grace (Engebretson) Rund. She was the oldest of five girls, growing up in Fergus Falls, graduating from Fergus Falls High School in 1942. After high school she worked at Woolworth’s until her marriage. On Friday, October 13, 1944, she married Earl N. Evenson. The couple bought his mother’s farm, moving there shortly after their marriage, where they raised their two children. Vernette continued to live there until January of 2004 when she moved into Fergus Falls. She lived at Pioneer Pointe, Alcott Manor, and LifeSong Adult Care. She was a member of Aastad Lutheran Church, where she was the Sunday School secretary and participated in Ladies Aid, and was also a member of homemakers and a Bible study group. Vernette loved music, playing piano by ear, dancing, and shopping for her grandchildren. She also enjoyed all aspects of homemaking including baking, decorating for the holidays, and being a meticulous housekeeper. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two sisters, Kathryn Thiel and Irene Brandt. Survivors include two children: Charles (Kathy) Evenson of Fergus Falls, and Susan (Rick) Trollier of Colorado Springs, CO; five granddaughters, Karen Aichlmayr, Kim (Kurt) Peck, Erin (Mike) Fisher, Amy (Brandon) Hackett, and Alison (Angela) Trollier; seven great-grandchildren: Ashley Aichlmayr, Quinn Peck, Meah Fisher, Xavier, Zane, Katana, and Jessamyn Hackett; two sisters, Fern Brandt of Fergus Falls, and Joan (Kenny) Rogers of Almena, WI; a sister-in-law, Arleen (Juel) Evenson of Covina, CA; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
