Verlon C. Lovelace, 103, a resident of Fergus Falls, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at the Pioneer Cottages in Fergus Falls, Minnesota.
He was born August 28, 1909 in Iowa, the son of James C. and Bertha (Dibborn) Lovelace. He married Hazel Bertram on October 28, 1931 in Breckenridge, Minnesota. Verlon operated a car dealership and farm implement dealership in Appleton, Minnesota for many years. He was involved in all aspects of his business, including the development of 2 buildings used for the dealership.
He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Fergus Falls, volunteered delivering Meals On Wheels, and was a volunteer income tax preparer for the elderly.
Verlon loved to dance with Hazel, and also enjoyed golfing and playing Scrabble. Verlon and Hazel travelled extensively with their daughter, who worked for Delta Airlines and enjoyed seeing the world. He has always been ahead of his time, willing to take on the challenges of change and technology. He was very inventive and creative.
Preceding him in death were his beloved wife of 75 years, Hazel, his son, Willis, his great-grandson Jonathan Zuponcic, his sister, Irene, brothers George and Melvin, and son-in-law Roger Tesch.
Survivors include his brother, Bert Lovelace of Fergus Falls; his daughters: Janie (Francis) Tesch-Cassady of Plymouth, Carole Lovelace of New Orleans, and Shirley Lovelace of Golden Valley; his son, Lee (Carolyn) Lovelace of Belmont MI; grandchildren: Gwenn (Ted) Crawford, Cynthia (Tim) Zuponcic, Sherry Ortega, Robin (Jonathan) Strohschein, Teri (William) Johnson-Tesch, Paula (James) Olson, Mary (Robert) Tesch-Stevson, Heather (Frank) Griffith-Tesch, Deborah Lovelace, Andrew Lovelace, Eve (Leandro) Moretti, and Sonia (Devin Harrington) Lovelace; 21 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.

Service: 12 p.m. Saturday, February 2, 2013 at the PioneerCare Celebration Center in Fergus Falls
