Valera “Val” Norman, 87, of Fergus Falls, died on Tuesday August 6, 2019 at Lake Region Healthcare in Fergus Falls.
She was born February 29, 1932 to Arnold and Viola (Nelson) Todahl in Fergus Falls. She attended Fergus Falls High School, graduating in 1950.
Val married her high school sweetheart, Don Norman, on June 29, 1952. They had three sons and a daughter.
She worked several jobs including the State Hospital and the Telephone Company. She really enjoyed her job at the telephone company, but could not resist her son asking her to stay home. She was an amazing homemaker.
She loved spending time with her family and her many friends. She enjoyed camping, bowling, game/card nights, music events, and baking. She was very active in church, the Elks Club, and volunteering. She especially enjoyed her time with the Bell Choir at Grace Methodist Church.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Donald; sons, Craig “Busch” Norman and Scott Norman; her parents; brothers, Roger Todahl, Lloyd (Eleanor) Todahl, and Richard “Dickey” Todahl who died as a toddler; nephew, Jeff Todahl, and bothers-in-law, Richard Norman and Ronald Norman; sisters-in-law, Eleanor Todahl, Kelly Norman and Marion Johnson.
She is survived by her son, Zachary Norman of Fergus Falls; her daughter, Beth Zeipelt of Lake Elmo; daughters-in-law, Linda Norman and Renee Norman both of Fergus Falls; grandchildren, Maggie (Ryan) Honer of Dent, Monte (Kaylie) Norman of Rapid City, SD, Sam (Abbi Hanson) Norman of Fergus Falls, Joe Norman and Hunter Norman both of Fergus Falls, and Lydia Zeipelt of Lake Elmo; great-grandchildren, Jake, Faye, and Lincoln Honer, Xadrian Norman, Avery Norman, and Clara Norman; sisters-in-law, Dilly Todahl and Delilah Norman, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation: One-hour prior to service at Grace Methodist Church in Fergus Falls
Service: Monday, August 12, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace United Methodist Church in Fergus Falls
Clergy: Pastor John Carpenter
Interment: Knollwood Memorial Gardens in Fergus Falls
