Trula Muretta Ebbighausen, 90, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Wednesday, April 25, 2007, at her home under the care of Lakeland Hospice. Trula was born on December 27, 1916 in Fergus Falls, the daughter of Carl and Magna (Bjorge) Sundling. She was baptized, confirmed and married at Augustana Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. She grew up in Fergus Falls and graduated from Fergus Falls High School. On April 17, 1938, she married Harlan Ebbighausen. After their marriage, the couple owned and operated the Eatmore Cafe`, located on East Lincoln Avenue from 1941 to 1944. Trula also worked as the manager of the millenary department for Ardmore Hat Company of Chicago at Omeara's Department Store. In the mid 1950's the couple built a new home on the Ottertail River and East Lost Lake area. During that time, Trula and Harlan opened the Red Hut Restaurant and Sportshop. The couple retired in 1972 and returned to Fergus Falls in 1984. She was an active resident of the Page House for 14 years. Trula was active in League of Women Voter's, P. T. A., was a Bluebird leader. In addition she served as secretary of the planning committee for the new high school constructed under Superintendent Wermager's administration. For 30 years, during the time they lived on the Ottertail River, she was an active member of Zion-Amor Lutheran church. She will be missed by her family and host of many friends. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Harlan, who died in 1984 and her brother, Milton, who died in 1928. Survivors include her two daughters, Margo Connell of Fergus Falls, Pamela (Jack) Brownell of Valley Falls, NY; son, Mark of Fergus Falls; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Memorials are preferred to Lakeland Hospice and the Augustana Stained Glass Window Sanctuary Fund. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m.Friday at Augustana Lutheran Church with Revs. Paul Hadland and Jon Olson officiating. Burial will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery at a later date.
