Thomas Troupe, 85, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Wednesday, December 12, 2007, at the Broen Memorial Home in Fergus Falls. He was born December 6, 1922, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the son of Stanley and Mae (Krenz) Troupe. He grew up in Minneapolis, graduating from North High School in 1941, and then entered the Civilian Conservation Corp. for one year. He then spent a year working for Cargill, Inc. In January of 1943 he entered the U.S. Army and spent the next two years fighting in the front lines in Germany and France, including at the Battle of the Bulge where he was wounded. He received a Purple Heart for his service. Thomas spent a year in the hospital in Paris. He was discharged in 1946 and returned to Minneapolis to work for Cargill, Inc. and entered Balzer Business College. On January 18, 1947, he married Marie Kampa in Minneapolis. He went to work for Commercial Credit Corporation as a District Representative in Minneapolis and Office Manager in Willmar and Bemidji. He left Commercial Credit in September, 1956, to become Vice-President and Loan Officer of Citizen's Bank of Havre, Montana, and was with them until September, 1958, when an opportunity opened with Security State Bank in Fergus Falls. The couple moved to Fergus Falls where he served as Vice-President and Executive Vice-President at Security State Bank for 26 years. After his retirement he started his own appraisal business, operating it for several years. Thomas was a member of the Lions, Kiwanis, Elks, Masons, VFW, and the Fish and Game Club, and served as past president of many of these organizations. His passion was fishing and hunting and spending time enjoying nature. He was a craftsman in carpentry, building his home and doing other woodworking. He also enjoyed photography and traveling. Preceding him in death were his parents; his brother, Robert Troupe; and his sister, Marilyn Abels. Survivors include his wife, Marie Troupe of Fergus Falls; his sister, Darlene Troupe-List of Spokane, WA; several nieces and nephews, and numerous other relatives. Visitation: 2-3:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with a 2:30 p.m. Masonic service and a 3:30 p.m. prayer service and resumes one hour prior to the service at the church Mass of Christian Burial: 11:30 a.m. Monday, December 17, 2007 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Fergus Falls.
