Thomas E. Tone, 74, a resident of rural Clitherall, MN, and former resident of Bloomington, MN, died peacefully on March 16, 2023.
Born October 5, 1948, to Burton and Elva (Ham) Tone, Tom married Jeanette Sundberg on August 9, 1970, and together they raised their three children.
Tom was an entrepreneur, business owner, and problem solver. Often to Jeanie’s chagrin but to his kids’ delight, Tom was great at making things go fast, whether on the lake, trails, racetrack, or at the Pinewood Derby. He would say with pride that when he and his brother Garry worked together, they could fix anything. He was an avid outdoorsman, fishing year-round, and he especially loved to hunt on the property where he built their retirement home. His colorful vocabulary and frequent phone calls will be missed.
Tom was preceded in death by his beloved wife Jeanie, son Jeff Tone, sister and brother-in-law Penny and Jim Sauter, his parents Elva and Burton Tone, and Jeanie’s parents Jean and John Sundberg.
He is survived by his children and grandsons: Sam Tone; Andy (Julie) Tone and his son Jordan; Jodi (Eric) Anderson and their sons Joseph, Benjamin, and Jacob; and Luke (Delena) Tone and their sons Logan, Trevor, Jacob, and Brennan; sister Catherine (Bruce) Tone; brother Garry (Cathi) Prewitt; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
We are particularly grateful for the many friends who spent time with Dad in recent months and in the weeks prior to his passing. Your friendship has meant the world to us. We would also like to thank Parkers Prairie Community Ambulance, Alomere Hospital Social Services, and Knute Nelson Hospice for their compassionate care during Tom’s recent hospitalizations and stay at Pioneer Care in Fergus Falls.
