Thomas “Tom” G. Hallisey, 67, a resident of Fergus Falls, passed away Tuesday, March 30, 2010. He was born April 26, 1942, in New London, Connecticut, the son of John J. and Myrtlene (Gesner) Hallisey. He grew up in Connecticut, graduating from Norwich Free Academy in Norwich. Following high school he attended the University of Connecticut College of Agriculture at Storrs, receiving a Certificate in Dairy Manufacturing with a minor in Bacteriology. On October 7, 1967, he married Norma Greely Blanchard in Montville, Connecticut. Tom was employed as a Dairy Inspector for the U.S.D.A. from 1967 – 1974. He then worked as a Laboratory Supervisor for Mid America Dairy in Fergus Falls from 1974 – 1989. On April 23, 1990, he started working at Frontier Equipment in Fergus Falls. In 1995 Thiele Engineering (now Thiele Technologies) bought Frontier Equipment, where he was on their Safety Committee. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Elizabeth, and was a former member of the Lions, and the Red Cross, where he served as a director. Tom and Norma grew up on the east coast and their love for the water was evident by the homes they purchased – always with a lake view. The home they designed and created on Jewett Lake reflected that love. As the family grew there were many trips to Connecticut and Maine to visit family and friends and opportunities for the children and grandchildren to discover and enjoy Tom and Norma’s New England heritage. Tom was an extremely talented mechanic and was always willing to repair anything mechanical for anyone. It was a hobby he enjoyed for many years. Preceding him in death were his parents, and a brother, John J. Hallisey. Survivors include his wife, Norma, of Fergus Falls; his son, Tom (Deborah) Hallisey, Jr. and grandchildren Karrah, Johnathan, and Karrigan of Detroit Lakes; his daughter, Linda (Gregg) Schmidt and grandchildren Michael and Kayla Hallisey, and step-grandchildren Shania, Anthony, and Carrie Schmidt of Fergus Falls; and two brothers, Charles (Joyce) Hallisey of Mt. Gilead, NC, and A. William (Anne) Hallisey of Uncasville, CT.
