Suzan K. Smith, 55, a resident of Dalton, died Thursday, May 24, 2007, at home in Fergus Falls. She was born August 26, 1951, in Fergus Falls, the daughter of Robert and Jean (Johnson) Garberg. She attended school in Fergus Falls and Underwood, graduating from Underwood High School in 1969. On June 19, 1971, she married David A. Smith at Augustana Lutheran Church in Elizabeth, MN. She was employed over the years at Medallion Kitchens, Inc., Bob's Bait, and Kmart. Suzan was a member of the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed horseback riding, sewing, cross stitching, and crafting. Preceding her in death were her father, Robert Garberg; father-in-law, Moland Smith; brother-in-law, Moe Haukos; and her husband, David A. Smith. Survivors include her mother, Jean Garberg, of Fergus Falls; aunts and uncles: Alice Johnson of New Brighton, Lois Messer of Fergus Falls, Claudia (Percy) Klovstad of Underwood, Harry (Colleen) Garberg of Billings, Mont., Alice (LeRoy) Marple of Kennewick, Wash., and Cynthia (Orville) Laugen of Devils Lake, ND; mother-in-law, Elaine Smith of Browns Valley, MN; sister-in-law Joan Haukos of Beardsley, MN and Lake Havasu City, AZ; brother-in-law Mike (Debbie) Smith of Browns Valley; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. There are no services planned at this time.
