Susan Kay Symonds, 59, of Fergus Falls, Minnesota, died Wednesday, June 13, 2012, at her residence. She was born August 17, 1952, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the daughter of James and Margaret (Engstrom) Alexander. She attended school in Minneapolis and Coon Rapids, Minnesota, graduating from Minneapolis North High School in 1970. She then attended Minneapolis Business College, graduating in 1971. On October 6, 1973, she married Otis Symonds Jr. at Zion Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. For 22 years Susan was employed at the Hennepin County Medical Center Government Center, and then worked for 11 years at the Salvation Army St. Paul Citadel. Susan was a faithful soldier of the Salvation Army for 46 years. She enjoyed doing arts and crafts projects, ceramics, playing card games, reading, cooking, and loved teaching and kids. Preceding her in death were her parents, Margaret and James, a sister, Martha-Ann “Marty”, and her father-in-law, Otis Symonds Sr. Survivors include her husband, Otis Symonds Jr. of Fergus Falls; three children: Bonnie (Johnnie) Walker of Fergus Falls, Michelle (Felipe) Sanchez of Eagan, MN, and Andrea (Luis Antonio) Solano of Hastings, MN; six grandchildren: Alex Symonds-Walker, Shampayne Walker, Kara Walker, Sierra Christopher, Korianne Christopher, and Tristyn Sanchez; her mother-in-law, Eleanor Symonds; two brothers; four sisters; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and others that loved her.
