Susan Longfors

Susan Longfors, 52, a resident of Erhard, Minnesota, died Friday, February 25, 2011, at Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. Susan Arlette Longfors was born on March 9, 1958 in Fergus Falls, Minnesota the daughter of Gerald and Helen (Beckman) Ripley, Sr. She graduated from Pelican Rapids High School in 1976 and from Fergus Falls Community College as a Registered Nurse. Susan married Gary Richard Longfors on July 23, 1977. Susan was an active and life-long member of Grace Lutheran Church in Erhard, MN. She worked at Grace Lutheran as the parish secretary until her passing. In the past, Susan worked at Lake Region Hospital doing sleep studies and as an administrative secretary. She also worked at Jennie-O Turkeys in Pelican Rapids as a health manager, as well as the Broen Home and Good Samaritan as a registered nurse. Susan was full of joy and love, always staying in touch with her family and friends by writing encouraging notes and talking with them. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, hosting tea parties, being a nurse at Camp Joy Bible Camp, singing, and decorating. Susan would be found at many track & field meets either cheering on her daughters or officiating. She also enjoyed traveling, walking along the ocean, and boogie boarding. Preceding her in death was her loving father, Gerald Ripley, Sr. Survivors include her devoted husband Gary Richard Longfors; loving daughters Jessica Arlette (Sean) Rider of Roanoke, VA, Nancy Sue Longfors of Norfolk, VA, and Rachel Nicole Longfors of Fargo, ND; her mother Helen Ripley; siblings: Gerald (Sharon) Ripley, Jr, Mary (Charles) Blastervold, David (Jeanette) Ripley, Arlene Johanning, Sandra (James) Brummer, John (Carol) Ripley, Craig Ripley, Andrew Ripley, Jean (Kirby) Kugler, Ann (Paul) Johnson, and Brian (Phyllis) Ripley; in-laws: Aune Longfors, Celia (Jerry) Piippo, Donna (David) Marjamaa, Melvin (Linda) Longfors, and Jack (Cathy) Longfors; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends Visitation 5-7 pm Tuesday with a prayer service at 6:30 pm at the funeral home, and resumes one hour prior to the service at the church Service 2 pm Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at Grace Lutheran Church, Erhard Clergy Rev.
