Steven Wayne Davis, 67, of Fergus Falls, died Sunday December 22, 2019, at the Battle Lake Good Samaritan Center.
Steve was born June 8, 1952, to Harry Davis and Clarice Gunderson in Perham, MN. He attended Basswood Country School and graduated from Perham High School in 1970. He went on to attend Staples Technical College, studying to become a Heavy Equipment Operator. He voluntarily enlisted in the United States Army in 1975 and was honorably discharged in 1980. He then became a member of the National Guard serving until November 1992. During his years of service, he served as a Recruiter, a Mechanic, a Cannon Crewman, and a Tank Commander. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and a Mechanic Badge with bar.
On June 20, 1975, Steve married Sonja Oliver in Germany, they had three children together.
In March of 1989, he began his employment with Ottertail Power Company, working up from the coal yard to chief operator, retiring in June of 2017.
Steve was a member of the Fergus Falls V.F.W. Post #612 participating in the Honor Guard for many years and the Fergus Falls American Legion Post #30. He enjoyed fishing and for many years fished the Bass Pro Circuit in Wisconsin and Minnesota. He also enjoyed deer hunting off the north shore of Lake Superior and the Beaver Bay area. Steve loved camping, watching M*A*S*H-his absolute favorite show, and riding horses in his younger days.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Davis and Clarice Gunderson and a sister, Sharon Davis.
Steve is survived by his daughter, Shaun Davis; sons, Scott Davis and Chad Davis; grandchildren, EveAnna McGowan, James Larson, Alexandra Davis, Brianna Davis, EllyAnna Davis, Tyesen Davis, Gavin Davis, Carter Davis, and Jadyn Davis; brothers, James (Barb) Davis, Michael (Val) Davis, and Harry (Cheryl) Davis, and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Visitation: One-hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Memorial Service: 1:00 p.m. Saturday January 4, 2020, at the Olson Funeral Home Chapel in Fergus Falls.

Interment: Bethlehem Cemetery, Fergus Falls
Military Participation: Fergus Falls V.F.W. Post 612 and American Legion #30
