Stephanie Mabbott

September 3, 1944 — June 12, 2010

Stephanie (Amberg) Mabbott, 65, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Saturday, June 12, 2010 at the Golden Living Center in Moorhead, after a long battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family. Stephanie was born on September 3, 1944 the daughter of Agnes (Allmon) Bergeron and Steven Torrent in Tullahoma, TN. She graduated from New York Mills High School in 1962. She spent several years out of state owning several businesses along the way. Stephanie took a career change and in 1978 she became the second woman in the state of Indiana to become a fire inspector. She worked in that capacity until she moved back to Minnesota where she became an Ottertail County Detention Officer. Stephanie remained employed by Ottertail County until her illness forced her to retire in 2006. She often referred to her “work” family as her “other” family since they loved and supported each other far beyond the boundaries of a traditional work environment. By God’s design, she was part of our worlds – by that grace, her memories will carry us on.  She is preceded in death by her parents; several aunts and uncles; a niece, Faith Henderson (Wick) and a nephew, David Wick. Stephanie is survived by two daughters, Shawn Jokela of Moorhead and Jodi (Ron) Leabo of Champlin; grandchildren, Angela Jokela (fiancé Ben Martinez) of Fargo, ND, Austin , Alec and Olivia Leabo of Champlin; great grandson Greysen; sister Barb (Ray) Wick of Fergus Falls; numerous nieces, nephews, friends, neighbors and colleagues all who will miss her greatly.
