Stanley Norgren

March 2, 1923 — November 16, 2013

Stanley “Buddy” C. Norgren, 90, of Elizabeth, died Saturday, November 16, 2013, at Lake Region Healthcare in Fergus Falls, Minnesota.

He was born March 2, 1923, on the Norgren family farm near Elizabeth, Minnesota, the eighth of nine children born to C.O. and Mary (Laugen) Norgren. He was baptized, confirmed, and married at the Augustana Lutheran Church in Elizabeth. He has been a faithful member there all of his life and has held various offices including being financial secretary for many years. He also served as the cemetery sexton. Stanley lived on the home farm and farmed with his Dad and his brother, Leonard.

He married Patricia (Julsrud) Wandersee on February 28, 1977, which was his parents wedding anniversary date. To this union two sons were born, Timothy and Chad. They lived in Elizabeth with Patricia’s four children and he continued to farm with his brother, Leonard.

Patricia died suddenly on December 20, 1982. After Patricia’s sudden death, her mother, Adeline Julsrud was of tremendous help for Stanley in raising the six children. His son, Timothy, died January 20, 2001, in a tragic snowmobile accident. His son, Jeff Wandersee, died April 17, 2009, after being paralyzed from a car accident on July 28, 1992.

Buddy built a new home on Devils Lake in 1988, where he lived until his death.

He was a longtime member of the Elizabeth Sportsmen’s Club, and the Lions Club. He was a very active, agile, and spry person all the 90 ½ years of his life including jumping up and out of his grain truck many, many times without the aid of a ladder just a few weeks ago.

Buddy enjoyed dancing, singing, auctions, and coffee with his friends at the Elizabeth Gas Station, the Viking Café, and the Sales Barn.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Patricia; his son, Timothy; son, Jeff Wandersee; his mother-in-law, Adeline Julsrud; his siblings and their spouses: Ethel and Arthur Fick, Edna and George Moe, Mildred Norgren, Kenneth and Evelyn Norgren, Clarence Norgren, Melvin and Esther Norgren, and Leonard and Violet Norgren; and a brother-in-law, George L. Swenson.

Survivors include his children: Chad Norgren of Elizabeth, Lori Morgan of Foxhome, Linda (Dale) Onstad of Fergus Falls, and Rick (Denise) Wandersee of Erhard; his grandchildren: Jennifer, Derek, Amanda, K.C., Ashley, Cody, Ramsey, Andrew, Tony, Joe, and Kali; his sister, Luella Swenson; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
