Sidney Philman Skrove

Sidney P. Skrove, 97, formerly of Dalton, died Tuesday, March 19, 2019, at Lake Region HealthCare, Fergus Falls, MN.

Sidney Philman Skrove was born on February 13, 1922, to Berton and Andrea (Jensen) Skrove in Dalton, MN. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Dalton by Reverend Berlie. He graduated from the University of Minnesota Ag School in 1940. On June 11, 1941, he married Margaret Mybleby at St. Olaf Church rural Dalton; three children were born to this union.

Sidney farmed northeast of Dalton and was very involved in his community volunteering and serving on various boards, Tumuli Township Board, Sverdrup Mutual Insurance Board in Underwood, West Ottertail 4-H Council and chaperoned forty 4-H students to Montana. He worked for Austin Mutual Insurance Company of Minneapolis for 28 years as a field representative in north eastern Minnesota, an adjuster for PProperty Real Estate and was certified as a fire inspector for Township Mutual.
Sidney enjoyed dancing and going to Texas and was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Dalton.

Sidney was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Margaret; son, Philman; sister, Ona Mounts and great-great-granddaughter, Stella Kay Walvatne.
He is survived by his son, Nathan (Juli) Skrove of Northfield; daughter, Sharon (Jack) Lacey of Fergus Falls; daughter-in-law, Pat Skrove of Burnsville; special friend, Loretta Derke; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Memorials are preferred to Our Savior’s Cemetery Fund or a charity of the giver’s choice.

Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the funeral home
Memorial Service: 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 6, 2019 at Olson Funeral Home, Fergus Falls
