Sidney Johnson

Sidney “Sid” Johnson, 75, of Rothsay, died Thursday, January 23, 2025, at his residence, after a long battle with cancer.

Sidney Jeffrey Johnson was born December 18, 1949 the son of Royal and Dorothy (Grabanski) Johnson in Grand Forks, ND. He attended Midway School, graduating in 1968.

He was a member of the United States Navy from 1968-1972, serving during the Vietnam War. He was stationed in the Philippines and San Diego, CA. Sid received the Viet Nam Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.

Sid was an Aviation Structural Mechanic Third Class in the United States Navy from 1968-1972. He worked for an auto body shop in Grand Forks, the Twin Cities, and was the owner of Sid’s Auto Body in Clear Lake, WI until 2001. From 2001-2025 he was a Sanitation Engineer for Waste Management.

On April 16, 1988 Sid married Linda Cluckey in Hastings, MN.

He was a former Cub Master in Cub scouts, BSA in Clear Lake, WI. A lifetime member of the VFW. One time Post Commander of the Clear Lake, WI VFW. Member of the Classic Car Club of Fergus Falls. Prior member of the Perham Area Cruisers and the Uninviteds Car Club of Fergus Falls.

Sid enjoyed auto body and car restoration, NASCAR, video games, fishing, hunting, reading, car racing (dirt track, ice, and drag), and Amateur boxing in the Navy.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Royal and Dorothy Johnson.

Sid is survived by his loving wife, Linda; his children, Jeni (Mike) Fischer, Stari (Dain) Stadick, and Roy Johnson; grandchildren, Justin Fischer, Trevor Fischer, Cole Stadick, and Brooklyn Stadick; siblings, Dale Johnson, Rod Johnson, and Bonnie (Roger) Setness, and many nieces and nephews. Also many friends and his very close friend, Les Shirley.

Funeral Service: 3:00 p.m., Thursday, January 30, 2025, at Olson Funeral and Cremation Chapel in Fergus Falls with visitation one-hour prior to the service.

Interment: 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 31, 2025 at Fargo National Cemetery, Harwood, ND
