Shirley Oline (Skrove) Heeter, 83, formerly of Dalton, passed on Thursday, May 2, 2019.
Shirley was born on May 19, 1935, in Fergus Falls to Sanford and Beatrice (Eggum) Skrove. Shirley grew up helping on the family farm. At age 18, Shirley and her close friend moved to Washington, D.C. where she met her former husband, Colonel C. Heeter Jr. Shirley and Chuck then moved to Minneapolis and then to Pittsburgh, PA, where she helped Chuck run his business. In retirement, Shirley split her time between Pittsburgh and North Port, FL.
Shirley had an affinity for numbers and a special skill for organization. She was able to put these talents to use, working for the Naval Department at the Pentagon, Carlson Companies, Chuck’s Business, Mail Delivery and USA Gourmet. Shirley enjoyed working in her yard and took a great deal of pride in her home. Never one to be sitting still, she loved to square dance and would always have several craft projects going.
Shirley is survived by her son, Gary (Tammy) Heeter of Dalton; daughter, Suzanne (David) Schramm of North Port, FL; grandchildren, Nick (Carissa) Heeter, Lucas (Kelli) Heeter, Lauren (Bryce) Bernu, Samuel Heeter and Alison Heeter; five great-grandchildren, Jack and Ruby Heeter, Annabelle and William (Beau) Bernu and Charlotte Heeter; sisters, Leona Zimmerman and Debbie Holicky.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; son, Craig Heeter and sisters, Yvonne Skrove and Renae Michaelson.
Visitation: 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM Thursday, May 9, 2019 at Olson Funeral Home, Fergus Falls, with a public prayer service at 6:30 PM.
