Sherilyn Wallace

Sherilyn (Sherry) Georgene Knight Wallace passed away peacefully with family by her side on August 17 at the age of 83 at the Broen Home in Fergus Falls, MN.

Sherry was born on August 14, 1941, to George and Violet (Leikness) Knight, Jr. at Crookston, MN. She was adopted by her stepfather, Harold Oberg at the age of 6. She attended school in Crookston, Angus, and Warren, MN, graduating from Warren High School as Salutatorian in 1959. On February 9, 1963, she was married to Conrad Wallace at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Crookston.

Sherry worked for Northern Minnesota Water Company and Otter Tail Power Company in Crookston, retiring from Otter Tail Power Company in Fergus Falls as an Inventory Coordinator in 1998 after 27+ years of service.

In Crookston she was involved with Evening Guild at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, 4-H, Camp Fire, and Community Theater.

In Fergus Falls she was a member of Hope Lutheran Church and Kilo Klub and served on the Otter Tail Credit Union Supervisory Committee for 9 years.

Conrad and Sherry had two children, a daughter, Janine Marie, born on September 8, 1964, and a son, Dale Gregory born on May 7, 1968.

She enjoyed doll collecting, quilting, reading, photography, and traveling. Music and dancing were a very important part of her early life, and her senior picture had the caption: “I can walk, but I’d rather dance.”

She is survived by her husband, Conrad of 61 years, daughter Janine (Scott) Johnson of Salol, MN; son Dale (Carrie) Wallace of Warroad, MN; grandchildren Zachary (Elizabeth) and Andrew (Amanda) Johnson, Logan (Sara), Cade, and Kennedy Wallace, and great grandchildren Penelope, Charlotte, and Eli Johnson. She is also survived by her sister LaVonne McCranie of Tallahassee, FL; brother-in-law Kenneth (Corki) Wallace of Euclid, MN; sisters-in-law Mary Jo Wallace of Crookston, MN; Amy Wallace of Coon Rapids, MN; and Vivian Wallace of Fridley, MN. Also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Violet Oberg; birth father George Knight Jr; stepfather Harold Oberg; grandparents; brother Galen Oberg; Aunt Pat Taylor; brothers-in-law William Wallace, Duane Wallace, Donald Wallace, James Wallace; and brother and sister-in-law William and Wanda Stroot.

Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 23, 2024, at Zion Lutheran Church, Fergus Falls with visitation one-hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
