Shelly Minge

Michelle “Shelly” Renae Minge, 41, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Tuesday, January 3, 2012, at the Sheridan House in Fergus Falls under the care of Lakeland Hospice. She fought a long courageous battle with cancer so that she might live for her daughter, Katie. She was born December 15, 1970, in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, the daughter of Carlton and Viola (Bohn) Ferber. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. She grew up in Fergus Falls, graduating from Fergus Falls High School in 1989. She then attended Alexandria Technical College, graduating with a Secretarial degree. On September 14, 1996, she married Robert Minge at Trinity Lutheran Church. They were the last couple to be married at the old church building on Union Avenue. They had one daughter, Katie. Over the years Shelly was employed at Service Food, Sunmart and Walmart. Shelly enjoyed reading, collecting Roy Rogers memorabilia, doing latch hook, and going to flea markets and garage sales. Her greatest joy was spending time with her daughter Katie. She was a lifetime member of Trinity Lutheran Church, and also participated in the Relay for Life for many years, including serving as a honorary chair in 2007. Preceding her in death were her husband, Robert, in 2009, her mother, Viola Ferber, her mother-in-law, Corinne (Minge) Mahler, her brother-in-law, Joel Minge, and her grandparents. Survivors include her daughter, Katie Minge of Fergus Falls; her father, Carlton (Linda) Ferber of Fergus Falls; her brother, Scott (Jane) Ferber of Foreston, MN; her niece, Cecelia Ferber; her father-in-law, Marvin Mahler of Fergus Falls; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. She will be greatly missed and was loved by many.  Visitation: 4-7 p.m. Friday with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service at the funeral home and resumes one hour prior to the service at the church Service: 11 a.m. Saturday, January 7, 2012, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls Clergy: Reverend Curtis Deterding and Reverend Roger Lange Interment: Trinity-Faith Cemetery in Fergus Falls Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls is in charge of the arrangements.
