Sharon Kay Rund, 65, a resident of rural Dalton, died Saturday, August 6, 2011 at Prairie Ridge Medical Center in Elbow Lake, Minnesota, surrounded by her family. She was born March 9, 1946, in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, the daughter of Otto and Corinne (Boen) Richter. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church. She attended Underwood High School, graduating in 1964. She later attended the Fergus Falls Community College TMA program, graduating in 1982. On October 17, 1964, she married Geoffrey Rund in Fergus Falls. Sharon helped out on the family farm, and was a skilled domestic engineer. Over the years she was employed at Cox’s Bakery, Woolworths, Cosmos, and worked in telecommunications and silk screening. She also worked as a TMA at Pelican Lake Nursing Home. She was a member of Rock Prairie Lutheran Church where she was involved in Ladies Aid, and served as a Sunday School teacher and volunteered as a 4H leader. Sharon enjoyed family and friend gatherings, movies, gardening, attending her children’s and grandchildren’s activities, dancing, photography, fireworks, fishing, camping, and was a bird enthusiast. She loved her dogs, and was never without one. She had a zest for life with a great sense of humor. Preceding her in death were her daughter, Sheila Grothe; her parents, Otto and Corinne Richter; her in-laws, Kermit and Myrtle Rund; and her grandparents, Ingvold Rund, Ida and Gustav Boen, and Otto and Bertha Richter. Survivors include her husband, Geoffrey Rund; her children: Brian Rund, Jared (Susie) Rund and Dawn Rund; a son-in-law, Randy Grothe; her “honorary daughter”, Kathy Evenson; her grandchildren: Brittney Grothe, Montana Rund, Derek Grothe, Bo Schmitz, and Garett Rund; her honorary grandchildren: Tabatha, Natasha, Samantha, and Brock Evenson; her sister, Donna (Jim) Thunselle; her brother, Gerald (Helen) Richter; two brothers-in-law, Kenwood (Joyce) Rund, and Tremayne (Kathy) Rund; a sister-in-law, Maureen Rund; and numerous nieces and nephews, and special friends. Visitation: 5 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with a public prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service at the church.
