Sharon Ann Best, 67, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Tuesday, January 4, 2011, at Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls. She was born May 27, 1943, in Maddock, North Dakota, the daughter of Gilbert and Annie (Fish) Ness. As a young child the family moved to Fergus Falls, where she attended school. She was baptized and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. On August 12, 1961, she married Donald Best at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. The couple lived in Fergus Falls until 1965 when they moved to Minneapolis. While living in the Twin Cities she worked as a machinist at Jonaco Machine. In 2001 they settled in Elbow Lake. Sharon loved handiwork, crafting, cooking, and was a good baker. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Donald, in 2002; a sister, Ardis Edwards; a half brother, Jim Cline; and her step-father, Everette Nelson. Survivors include her daughter, Dawn (Kevin Kappes) Best of Lino Lakes; a son, Richard Best of Elbow Lake; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; her sister, Linda (Allan) Umlauf of Coon Rapids; and numerous nieces and nephews.
