Sharon Virginia (Mauer) Bergerson, age 75, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Monday, April 17, 2017, at Sanford Health in Fargo, ND, due to complications from a heart attack.
She was born September 22, 1941, in Greenbush, MN, the daughter of Frank and Fern (Perkins) Mauer. She was raised in Fergus Falls and graduated from Fergus Falls High School. On April 8th, 1961, she married Curt Bergerson and they resided in Fergus Falls for most of their 56 years of marriage. Sharon worked 30 years as a special education paraprofessional for the Fergus Falls School District.
Sharon cherished spending time with her kids, grandkids, and family. She also enjoyed visiting with her many friends, new and old, far and near. Sharon loved summers at the lake and camping, especially the annual family Itasca State Park camping trip for 44 consecutive years. She loved to share her amazing cooking and baking with others. Sharon loved to read, work on puzzles, shop, decorate for holidays, watch game shows, and collect snowmen, snow babies, beanie babies and much more. Her other interests included playing cards, playing cards and playing cards.
Sharon was an active member of Our Lady of Victory Church and the church’s Women's Circle where she helped with the Lenten fish fries and funeral luncheons. Sharon will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, friend and caregiver to her family and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Margie Bach and brother-in-law Bruce Meyer.
Survivors include her husband, Curt, and their five children: Pam (Mike) Medvec of Minneapolis, Carmen Kilde of Plymouth, Candace (Mike) Mielke of Delano, Staci (Pete) LaPlante of Homer, Alaska, and Kevin (Becky) Bergerson of Maplewood, nine grandchildren Matt, Cody, Chelsey, Tyler, Gabrielle, Lance, Bridget, Jake, Max and six great-grandchildren Kaitlyn, Lexi, Caleb, Lucas, Jackson, Marcus; her twin sister, Shirley Meyer, and sisters Mae (Ed) Staub, Linda (Ron) Mohagen, Denise Mauer (Tim Piper), brother-in-law Arvid (Bud) Bergerson and sister-in-law, Lorna Kennedy.
Visitation: 4-7 p.m. Thursday, April 20, 2017, at Olson Funeral Home with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service at the church
Mass of Christian Burial: 11 a.m. Friday, April 21, 2017 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Fergus Falls
