Scott Darin Odegard

Scott Darin Odegard, 46, a resident of Dalton, died Saturday, December 22, 2018, at Alomere Health in Alexandria, MN.

Scott was born on April 10, 1972, in Fergus Falls, MN, the son of Richard and Jean Ann (Clemensen) Odegard. Scott graduated from Underwood High School in 1990.

In 1995 he married Patricia Arneson and to that union were born two children. On August 24, 2002, Scott married Jennifer Knutson, in Underwood, and together they had one child. Together their family blended to five children, Scott’s two children, Bretta Jo and JoDee Lyn along with Jennifer’s two children, Skylah Madison and Dakota J. Tyler Oksness, and their child together, Kassidy Sophia.

Scott worked for David Friedrick from the time he was in high school till 2015 doing various jobs from harvesting, to trucking, to dispatching, to managing the Buy Mor Parts and Service Store. He started his own trucking business, Skyline Trucking, and operated it up until his heart attack in 2016. He then went to work for O’Reilly’s and in March of 2018 he became the manager of Fergus Falls O’Reilly Store. Under his management the store went from the number one store in the district to the number one store in the region.

Scott enjoyed going to races in Fergus Falls and Alexandria, talking and visiting with friends, helping with harvest and spending time with family. He was a volunteer on the Dalton Fire Department.

Preceding Scott in death was his father, Richard; stepdaughter, Skylah Oksness; grandparents, Dorthey and Gordon Odegard, Kenneth and Hazel Clemensen; uncle, Don Robertson.

Survivors include Scott's wife, Jennifer of Dalton; children, Bretta Jo and JoDee (fiancé Brandon Kalenda) Odegard of West Fargo, Dakota Oksness and Kassidy Odegard of Dalton; mother, Jean Ann Odegard of Underwood; grandchildren, Braysen Odegard, Jaxson and Waylon Kalenda; siblings, Bradley (Deb) Odegard of Fargo, Bryan (Pam) Odegard of Underwood; nieces, Jessie (Devin) Hammer, Ariana Odegard, Kelsey Odegard, Erica Odegard; great niece and nephews, Haylee, Mason and Easton Hammer. Also surviving is Jennifer’s family, mother-in-law, Verlinda Knutson; sisters-in-law, Sharon Bussamuss, Jessica (Justin) Evans, Jammie (Daniel) Branstad; brother-in-law, Jordan Knutson as well as nieces and nephews, Brooklyn, Levi, Shaylee, Carter, Sommer and Bentley.

In honor of Scott please wear auto racing or trucking shirts.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Scott’s family.

Visitation: 4-7 p.m. Friday, December 28, 2018 at Olson Funeral Home with a 6 p.m. prayer service and resumes one hour prior to the service at the church
Service: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 29, 2018, at Zion-Sarpsborg Free Lutheran Church in Dalton, MN

Interment: Oak Grove Cemetery in Fergus Falls
