Sandra Paterson
Sandra J. Paterson, 75, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at the Golden Living Center in Henning.
Sandra was born on February 13, 1939 in Fergus Falls, the daughter of Lyle and Marian (Thompson) Beamish. She graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 1957, and then attended Bemidji State College earning a Bachelor’s degree in English. Sandra also earned a Master’s degree in Library Science. She taught English in Cottonwood and at Southwest State in Minnesota and also served as Librarian in the Milaca school district. She also taught English as a Second Language for Marshall Community Education. In 1999 she retired and moved to Fergus Falls.
In June of 1963 she married James Pantzke, to this union their son Christopher was born in 1969. James passed away in October of 1968. In 1983 she married Gordon Paterson. He passed away in January of 2003.
Sandra enjoyed reading, outdoor activities, participating in church activities at, St. James Episcopal Church in Fergus Falls and also volunteering at the Fergus Falls Food shelf and the Ottertail County Humane Society.
Preceding her in death were her parents and husbands.
Survivors include one son, Chris (Rene’) Pantzke of Virginia; grandson, James Pantzke; sisters, Julia (Ron) Laabs of Minneapolis, Katherine (Kenneth) Kothe of St. Michael, and Mary Thompson of Fergus Falls; brother, Richard Beamish of Elizabethon, TN. Nieces and Nephews.
The family wants to thank the Golden Living Center in Henning for their attentive and compassionate care in her last week of life.
A very special “Thank You” to, Valkommen Hem Inn in Fergus Falls, Sandi was blessed to be surrounded by loving staff that worked tirelessly to care for her and to keep her safe.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes all memorials to the MS Society of Fergus Falls.
Visitation: One hour prior to service at the funeral home.
Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. Saturday October 11, 2014 at the Olson Funeral Home, Fergus Falls.
Clergy: Father George Schulenberg.
Burial: Oak Grove Cemetery, Fergus Falls.
