Sadie Lyngaas, 98, a resident of Fargo, formerly of the Doran area, died Thursday, April 19, 2007, at the Rosewood on Broadway Nursing Home in Fargo. She was born July 5, 1908, at Makinen, Minnesota, one of nine children of Jack and Ida Kangas. She graduated from Eveleth High School in 1927 and from Duluth State Teacher's College with a teaching degree in Grammar Grades in 1930. She taught in one room schools in Wilkin County for ten years. On June 24, 1939, she married Oswald Lyngaas at her parent's home in Makinen. During her married years Sadie was an active partner in all aspects of the farm life. Oswald died September 16, 1995. She continued to live on their farm in Bradford Township, near Doran, Minnesota until August of 1997 when she moved to the retirement community of Pioneer Pointe in Fergus Falls. She lived there until November of 2003. She then moved to Eventide Catered Living where she lived until October of 2006. Sadie was an avid reader. She loved flowers and vegetable gardening. She was a walking enthusiast long before being fit was fashionable. Sadie spent many hours quilting with the Vukku Church ladies despite her limited eyesight. She was a Sunday School superintendent and teacher, and a 4H leader. She enjoyed many years of active membership in the Vukku Ladies Aid and her Home Extension homemaker's group. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Oswald; five brothers, and two sisters. Survivors include her three children: Dr. Kermit Lyngaas of Richville, MN, Janice (Alan) Adair of Moorhead, and Janet (Richard) Seim of Burnsville; nine grandchildren: Amber (Mike) Cannon of Hutchinson, Gay (Don) Reed of Mantorville, MN, Lars (Hope) Lyngaas of Britton, SD, Ladd (Denise) Lyngaas of Detroit Lakes, Laura (Chris) Opsahl of Cottage Grove, Dr. Julie (Trevor) Cronk of Stillwater, Paul (fiance` Deb Friese) Seim of Minneapolis, Kristi (Jon) Zentner of Edina, and Thomas Adair of International Falls; and eighteen great grandchildren. Her sister, Alvera Williams is her only surviving sibling. Additional survivors include Oswald's brother, Clayton "Bud" (Mary) Lyngaas of Fergus Falls and his sister, Lorraine Kurth of Walkerton, Indiana. Memorials may be directed to Vukku Lutheran Church or Vukku Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation: 4-6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with a 5:30 p.m. prayer service, and one hour prior to the service at the church.
