Ruth Karst

Ruth Evelyn Larson Kube Karst, 89, of Fergus Falls, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at PioneerCare under the care of Moments Hospice on October 24, 2023, which would have been Bob and Ruth’s 41st wedding anniversary. She was born at home in Hereford, Minnesota on November 6, 1933 to Selmer and Julia Berg Larson. She attended elementary school and high school in Elbow Lake, graduating in 1951.

In November of 1951 she married Roger Kube. They farmed near Wendell and were blessed with four children. They divorced in in 1980. Ruth married Robert “Bob” Karst in 1982 and they enjoyed living and working in Florida and California before settling down in Tucson, Arizona. In 2011 they moved back to Fergus Falls. Bob passed away in 2015.

Ruth is survived by her daughter, Dianne (Doug) Herman; sons, Jeff Kube, John (LaVon) Kube, and Glenn Kube; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, and step-children, Deb Karst, Dan (Wendy) Karst, Teresa (Todd) Smedstad, and Jan Florand. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Orlin, Lyle, and Robert Larson; her husband, Bob; her ex-husband, Roger; great-granddaughter, Emily Lynn Johnson, and step-sons, Kevin “Deac” Karst and James “Skeeter” Karst.

Memorials are preferred to Moments Hospice.

There will be a private family graveside service.
