Ruth Dahlager

Ruth Dahlager, 100, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Monday, March 26, 2012, at the Broen Memorial Home in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. She was born April 2, 1911, in rural Dalton, the daughter of Oscar and Anna (Paulson) Erickson. As a child Ruth enjoyed going to country school with her five siblings. She worked for a time in Minneapolis before returning to Dalton. On August 25, 1954, she married Orion Dahlager at Sarpsborg Lutheran Church in rural Dalton. The couple farmed south of Dalton near Hansel Lake, where Ruth was a homemaker and her husband’s helpmate on the farm. They resided on the farm until their retirement in 1994, when they moved to Northwestern Manor in Fergus Falls. In the summer of 2009 she moved to the Broen Home. On April 2, 2011, many family and friends came to help Ruth celebrate her 100th birthday. Ruth loved to sew and tend to her flower gardens when they lived on the farm. She also liked to read, play scrabble, spend time outdoors, and kept a good journal. She had a great love for people, and enjoyed visiting with family and friends. She was an active and lifelong member of Sarpsborg Lutheran Church in Dalton. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Orion, in 1997; a sister, Lillian Rude; and two brothers, Milton and Walter Erickson. Survivors include a sister, LaVerne (Art) Peterson of Fergus Falls; a brother, Orwell Erickson of Minneapolis; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the Broen Home Service: 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2012, at the Light & Life Auditorium at the Broen Memorial Home in Fergus Falls Clergy: Chaplain Ken Austin and Pastor Mark Johnson Interment: Sarpsborg Cemetery, rural Dalton Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls is in charge of the arrangements.
