Ruth Beckman, 94, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls surrounded by her loving family.
Ruth was born June 15, 1920 in Wendell, MN, the daughter of Thomas and Roxy (Vincent) Sheehy.
She married Albert “Bud” Beckman on April 15, 1940 in Brandon, MN. The two of them raised their family in Wendell. Ruth was first and foremost a mom and homemaker and also worked as a bookkeeper for the Wendell Creamery and the family business, Beckman Oil. Ruth was a member of St. Olaf Catholic Church in Elbow Lake and after moving to Fergus Falls in 2005, she became a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church.
She loved spending time with her family and being a part of all their activities. She and Bud loved to dance and entertain as well as make wine and garden. Ruth enjoyed playing cards, reading and will be remembered as an avid sports fan and wonderful cook.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Bud, who died in 2011; siblings, Edward, Dorothy, Helen, Thomas and Eugene.
She is survived by her three children: Sharon (Ken) Carpenter, of Detroit Lakes, MN, Bernie (Nancy) Beckman, of Otter Tail Lake, MN and Kathy (Mark) Swenson, of Mitchell, SD; seven grandchildren: Sheila (Jeff) Laney, Thomas (Trish) Strom, Jon (Theresa) Strom, Tracy (Greg) Schmidt, Thomas (Kerby) Beckman, Kristin (Steve) Heinemann and Kirk Swenson; fifteen great-grandchildren: Courtney Wipf, Mathew Strom, Elizabeth and Patrick Strom, Kateri, Maggie, Annie, Tom, Isaac and Giana Schmidt, Ian Beckman, Mackenzie and Josh Heinemann, Abigail and Jacob Swenson; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Ruth was a loving and caring mother and grandmother to all. She was so proud of her children and grandchildren’s accomplishments and enjoyed them all. She will be missed by her family and will remain in our hearts forever.

Service: 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, Fergus Falls.
