Ruth Aune

June 29, 1918 — March 6, 2008

Ruth O. G. Aune was born on the home farm at Underwood, MN, June 29, 1918 to Ole O and Bertina Nelson Aune. She died at the Broen Memorial Home, Fergus Falls, MN on March 6, 2008 at the age of 89 years. She was baptized as an infant and confirmed at Rindal Lutheran Church. She went through the first eight grades at District 112 rural Underwood. She graduated from Underwood High School and Augsburg College, Minneapolis. She taught school for nine years at Lake Bronson, Onamia, Starbuck and Benson all in Minnesota. After teaching, she worked as statistician at General Mills for 35 years. Following retirement Ruth realized her life-long dream of returning to the homestead in Underwood. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, brother Ole (Donny), sister and brother-in-law Esther and Luther Bolstad, Brother and sister-in-law Wilfrid (Biff) and Madelon Aune. She is survived by sister and brother-in law Edith and Paul O'Hearn of Kenniwick, WA; brother and sister-in-law Herman and Jerrie Aune of Cambridge, MN; brother and sister-in-law Richard (Harry) and Elaine Aune of St. Peter, MN; eighteen nieces and nephews and 40 grand nieces and nephews. During her retirement she enjoyed taking care of her lawn and cats, making jam and jellies with her neighbors, travelling overseas and she was active in the Underwood Study Club. Ruth was an accomplished pianist who shared her talents for over forty years at Rindal and Sverdrup Lutheran Churches. Ruth vowed that she wanted to die at the farm. She missed her goal by a little more than a month. May she rest in peace.
