Roy Eggum

Roy R. Eggum, 66, of Fergus Falls, died Friday, February 12, 2010, at the Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls. He was born May 30, 1943, in Elbow Lake, Minnesota, the son of Joseph and Hilda (Bendt) Eggum. He graduated from Elbow Lake High School. On June 3, 1962, he married Sharon Soliah at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, where they made their home and raised their family. Throughout Roy’s life he did a variety of different things. As a young man he worked for Worner Auto Sales of Fergus Falls.  He also did upholstery work, ran his own trucking company, and owned several rental properties. Most recently he retired and continued doing a route with the Fergus Falls Daily Journal. He had a great love for animals and always had his dogs along with him. Roy was very loved by his family and was a proud father and grandfather. He was a very compassionate man always willing to help others, but seldom asked for help himself. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. Preceding him in death were his parents, an infant sister, Darlene, and sisters, Cindy Endecott and Ida Johnson. Survivors include his wife, Sharon; two daughters, Kristi (Wade) Erickson of Fergus Falls, and Kim (Greg) Watterud of Breckenridge; a son Scott (Kim) Eggum of Fergus Falls; eight grandchildren, Tyson, Luke, Liv, Zach, Mara, Alyssa, Jennifer and Haley; one brother, Jim (Marion) Eggum of Fergus Falls; and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as his dogs, Shelby and Molly.
