Rose Rasmusson

Rose Mary Rasmusson, 75, of rural Fergus Falls, died Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at PioneerCare in Fergus Falls, Minnesota.

She was born April 21, 1937, in Friberg Township, rural Fergus Falls, the daughter of Henry and Alida (Gilbertson) Budke. She was baptized and confirmed at Tonseth Lutheran Church, rural Erhard, and attended country school in Friberg Township. She then attended Fergus Falls High School.

On July 28, 1954, she married Donald Rasmusson at Foxhome Lutheran Church. Don was in the Army Signal Corps, serving in New Jersey and Hawaii. In 1956 the family returned to Carlisle Township to farm, and they have continued to make their home there.

Through the years Rose worked at JCPenney, the Broen Home, the Regional Treatment Center, and at a local group home.

She was an active member of Hedemarken Lutheran Church, the Homemakers Club, and bowled on a bowling league. She also served as a 4H leader.

Rose enjoyed flowers, crafts, upholstery projects, sewing, and baking and cooking, especially chocolate chip cookies and scalloped potatoes. She was also a Minnesota Vikings fan, and enjoyed collecting angels. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren, and enjoyed following their sports activities.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Henry and Alida Budke; her siblings: Annie Hasbargen, Myrt Keller, Marcella Budke, Roy Budke, and Jerry Budke; and her brothers and sisters-in-law: Errol Kugler, Irene and Charles Zimmerman, Leo and Selma Rasmussen, and Lois and Allen “Bud” Hanneman.

Survivors include her husband, Donald, of Fergus Falls; children: Deborah (David) Hegseth, of Fergus Falls, Glenda (Randy) Schmidgall of Winnipeg, Donavan (Renae) Rasmusson of Fergus Falls, and Jeff (Roxanne) Rasmusson of Brainerd; 11 grandchildren: Mali (fiancé Matt Moss) Hegseth, Erik Hegseth, Alicia (Andres) Gonzalez, Ryan (fiancée Sarah Little) Schmidgall, Jordan Rasmusson, Brianna Rasmusson, Randi (Cory) Martin, Geordan Goodell, Meghan Goodell, Kilee Rasmusson and Robert Rasmusson; three great-grandchildren: Owenn and Wyatt Hegseth and Logan Martin; siblings: Donald (Kathy) Budke of Underwood, Mervin (Ervena) Budke of Fergus Falls, and JoAnn Kugler of Fergus Falls; brother and sisters-in-law: Cyril Keller of Fergus Falls, Renee Budke of Florida, Mavis Budke of Pelican Rapids, and Sid (Clarice) Rasmussen of Fergus Falls; and many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.

Memorials are preferred to the Hedemarken Cemetery Fund.

Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home and resumes one hour prior to the service at the church.
Service: 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at Hedemarken Lutheran Church, rural Rothsay

Interment: Hedemarken Lutheran Cemetery, rural Rothsay
