Rose M. Bredeson, 85, of Fergus Falls, and most recently a resident at the Mill Street Residence, died Thursday, October 20, 2011, at Lake Region Healthcare in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. She was born October 18, 1926, in Butte, Montana, the daughter of Edward and Dora (Leeper) Grove. She moved to Friberg Township in Otter Tail County, Minnesota, at the age of 10 and lived with her aunt and uncle, Thelma and Henry Splittgerber. Over the years she worked at Chrysler Warren Avenue Defense Plant as a riveter on B-29 planes in Detroit, Michigan, at Michigan Bell Telephone in Detroit, and at the City Bakery in Fergus Falls. She was the cook at McKinley Elementary School in Fergus Falls for 27 years. On February 26, 1947, she married Eldore Bredeson at the home of her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Splittgerber, in Friberg Township. They made their home in Fergus Falls. Rose enjoyed spending time at the lake, playing cards with friends, and loved spending time with her family. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Eldore, in 1999; an infant daughter, Elaine Kay; three brothers, Elmer Grove, Lloyd Grove, and Arvid Grove; two sisters, Daisy Gentry and Violet Engebretson; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. She is survived by her daughter, Joan (Calvin “Butch”) Simmer of Rothsay; three sons: Douglas (fianceè Janet Leske) of Sleepy Eye, Leslie (Cindy) of Wahpeton; and Wayne (Tammy) of Duluth; 15 grandchildren: Julie (Jason) Carlson, Amy Simmer, David (Laura) Simmer, Michelle (David) Ortega, Carrin (Eric) Seibold, Kristina (Michael) Fielding, Nicholas (Tiffany) Bredeson, Rachel (TJ) Goss, Carolyn (Kevin) Kelley, Holly (Todd) Braud, Heather Bredeson, Tryg Bredeson, Bevan Bredeson, Jon Bredeson, and Joey Bredeson; 15 great grandchildren; one sister, Alice Stenstrom, of Fergus Falls; three cousins: Fred (Darlene) Splittgerber of Pelican Rapids, Dennis (Carol) Splittgerber of Erhard, and Vonnie (Mark) Kenyon of Vergas; one brother-in-law, Johnny Gentry of Warren, MI, one sister-in-law, Arlene Erickson, of Fargo, ND; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with a 6:30 prayer service and resumes one hour prior to the service at the church.
