Ronald Allen Leitch, 47, a resident of rural Underwood, died Sunday, February 22, 2009 near his home. He was born July 8, 1961, in Fergus Falls, MN, the son of Arvid and Myrtle (Waskosky) Leitch. Ronnie was baptized and confirmed at Sverdrup Lutheran Church. He grew up on the family farm in rural Underwood, graduating from Underwood High School in 1979. After graduating from high school he worked in the southern part of the United States doing combining. He married Beth Washek and they had one son, Timothy. He worked for Aumundson Equipment in Elbow Lake for one year, and then worked on the Don Heisler dairy farm for a year. He worked on the family farm with his dad and brothers until he bought a farm in Dane Prairie Township where he milked cows for 10 years with Forrest Hanson. Ronnie then worked for P & H Mine Pro in Gillette, Wyoming for 12 years, erecting heavy equipment shovels used in the coal mining industry. He returned home to the family farm, where he had most recently been employed at Fergus Power Pump. Ronnie enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, and entertaining friends and family in his barn. Preceding him in death were his grandparents; his father, Arvid; and his son, Timothy. Survivors include his mother, Myrtle Leitch (dear friend Orval Larson) of Fergus Falls; five siblings: Charlotte (Vernon) Pederson of rural Underwood, Lillian (Marty) Martin of Gillette, Wyoming, Charlene Leitch of Chandler, AZ, Mike Leitch of rural Underwood, and John Leitch of rural Underwood; his step-daughter, Tessa Washek; many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews, and two great-great nieces; and his beloved dog, Lu-Lu. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday with a public prayer service at 5:30 p.m. at the Olson Funeral Home. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service at the church.
