Roger Gordon Kvern, 77, of Fergus Falls, died Tuesday, October 8, 2013, at Sanford Health in Fargo, North Dakota.
He was born October 22, 1935, in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, the son of Alfred and Bernice (Eide) Kvern. He grew up in Fergus Falls, graduating from high school there in 1953.
He joined the U.S. Army and was stationed in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Following his discharge he returned to Fergus Falls where he began working for Townsend Concessions, working throughout the Midwest. He later established his own business with the carnival, which he operated for many years until he retired. Over the years he would also help his folks with their Christmas tree sales in Fergus Falls.
Roger could fix most everything. He worked in his shop where he would fix and repair things. He was an avid reader. He enjoyed going for coffee at the Big Chief Truck Stop and the camaraderie with friends.
Preceding him in death were his son, Paul Roger, his father, Alfred, a brother, Charles, and a sister, Katherine McGuire.
Survivors include his mother, Bernice Kvern of Fergus Falls; a brother, Allen Kvern of Seattle WA; a sister, Joycelyn (Gerry) Grenz of Lakeville MN; a sister-in-law, Marge Kvern of Champlain MN; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the church
Memorial Service: 1 p.m. Friday, October 18, 2013, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls
Clergy: Reverend Tom Peterson and Reverend Stan Satre
Interment: Kongsberg Cemetery, rural Fergus Falls
