Earl “Roger” Gunderson, 82, a resident of rural Dalton, died Tuesday, September 23, 2008, at his home. He was born June 30, 1926, in Dane Prairie Township of Otter Tail County, the son of Anton and Hannah (Lindquist) Gunderson. He grew up in Tordenskjold Township, attending country school at District #20. He later joined the Marines and was stationed in Hawaii serving from 1945 to 1946. He returned to farm the family farm with his brother, James. He also worked at the gas station and Skaars Bait, both in Dalton. Roger was a member of Tordenskjold Free Lutheran Church of rural Dalton, the Dalton-Ashby American Legion, Ducks Unlimited, and the NRA. He enjoyed gardening, deer hunting, and listening to the Morning Watch radio program. Preceding him in death were his parents, and his brother, Arvid. Survivors include his brother, James Gunderson of rural Dalton; his sister, Fern (Walter) Schmidt of rural Dalton; five nephews, and several great nieces and nephews.
