Roger K. Berg, 84, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Saturday, November 8, 2014 at PioneerCare.
He was born April 6, 1930 to Harry and Verle (Daggett) Berg in St. Paul and moved to Sebeka at a young age. He grew up in Sebeka and graduated from Sebeka High School.
Prior to joining the Otter Tail Family, Berg farmed and also worked in western North Dakota wiring houses. He also served four years in the Army, from 1951-1955.
On August 5, 1956 he married Adella Tenney at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. The couple had one daughter, Michele.
Roger joined Otter Tail Power in 1950 as a Groundman apprentice lineman for the Spike Ness crew based in Fergus Falls and attained journeyman lineman status in 1957. Throughout his years at OTP, he also served on the Wahpeton Division Engineer Crew as a Journeyman Lineman, on the Electrical Crew and as a Plant Electrician at Hoot Lake Plant. On April 30, 1992, he retired after 42 years of service, leaving his last position as the Training and Safety Coordinator, Hoot Lake Plant.
He enjoyed deer and antelope hunting in Wyoming with Tom Connell and Arnie Loftus and also took a trip with his wife to Germany to visit where he was stationed during his years in the military. He also enjoyed fishing, golfing, hunting and traveling. He was member of Zion Lutheran Church and a former member of American Legion and the Elks Lodge.
Preceding him in death were his parents and brother, Gerald.
Roger is survived by his wife, Adella of Fergus Falls; daughter, Michele of Fargo, ND; brother, Marlin (Erna) Berg of Ft. Myers; sister-in-law, Corrinne of New York Mills. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the church
Memorial Service: 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at Zion Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls.
