Rodney LeRoy Sporre, 86, of Fergus Falls, died Sunday, April 17, 2016, at the VA Hospital in Fargo, ND.
Rodney was born on July 8, 1929 in Fergus Falls, the son of Arvid and Linnea (Holmgren) Sporre. He grew up and attended school in Fergus Falls. After school he entered the United States Army and served from 1951 to 1953.
Throughout the years, Rodney worked at Riverside Repair, Minnesota Motors, Rogers Brothers Shows and Hanson Concessions. He was also self-employed as a mechanic for most of his life, working out of his garage.
He was a member of the Fergus Falls V. F. W. and the Elks club. He enjoyed scuba diving, motorcycling, bike riding, boating, canoeing, tinkering in his garage, playing cards, having coffee with his friends and Sunday drives.
Preceding him in death were his parents; brother, Raymond Sporre; sister, Edith Williams and niece, Sandy Sporre.
Survivors include his brother, Clarence Sporre of Coeur d’alene, ID; nephews, Alan Sporre of Fergus Falls, Kurt Sporre of Fergus Falls, Tim (Kathy) Sporre of Battle Lake; nieces, Clare (Les) Erickson of Coeur d’alene, ID and Kay (Robert) McReynolds of Boise, ID. Also surviving are special friends, Norma Woodruff of Fergus Falls, Kevin (Marcia) Newborg of Fergus Falls and Holly Peasley of Dayton, OH.
Visitation: One hour prior to the service.
Memorial Service: 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at Olson Funeral Home Chapel, Fergus Falls.
