Rocell I. Johnson, 89, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Monday, October 12, 2009, at the Pioneer Retirement Community in Fergus Falls. She was born January 8, 1920, in Melvin, MN, the daughter of Knut and Christine (Buran) Klev. She grew up and attended school in Melvin. On January 17, 1938, she married Owen C. Johnson, in Fertile. Through the years they made their home and raised their family in rural Fertile, Grand Rapids, and Duluth, Minnesota. Rocell was a former member of Varnes and Sundal Lutheran Churches in rural Fertile, and churches in Grand Rapids, Duluth, and St. Cloud; currently she was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. She enjoyed baking, sewing, polka dancing and playing cards. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Owen, in March of 1990; four sisters, Eleanor Kvamme, Gena Fadness, Bernice Ellegard and Eloise (Sally) Casavan; two brothers, Emil and Clarence Klev; and two sons, David and Errol. Survivors include two sons, Roger (Gail) of Fergus Falls and Gregory of Dorchester, MA; grandchildren, Timothy (Lana) Johnson of Fergus Falls, Steven (Michelle) Johnson of Ft. Collins, CO, Kari (Jeffrey) Johnson of Rifle, CO, KrisAnn (Matthew) Gadow of St. Charles, IL, Kimberly (Brent) Gustafson of Ham Lake, MN and Kevin (Stacy) Johnson of Ham Lake, MN; great-grandchildren, Andrew, Lauren, Nicholas, Caitlin, Christopher, Hayden, Benjamin and Grace Johnson, Levi, Joshua and Shayla Gadow, Rachael, Jordan, Nolan and Evan Gustafson; a sister, Viola Knutson of Grand Forks, ND; two brothers, Loren Klev of Los Angeles, CA and Lester Klev of Cohassett, MN. Memorials are preferred to the Varnes Cemetery Fund in Fertile, Minnesota.
