Robert “Bob” Curtis Dolan, 84, of Fergus Falls, died Tuesday, November 19, 2013, at Lake Region Healthcare in Fergus Falls.
He was born December 14, 1928, in Stanley, North Dakota, the son of Edward and Ann (Teichrow) Dolan. He was baptized at White Earth, North Dakota in 1934, and confirmed at Zion Lutheran of Hartland, North Dakota. He grew up in North Dakota, graduating from Velva High School in 1947.
On November 6, 1949, he married Marian Shook at Oak Valley Lutheran Church in Velva, North Dakota. After their marriage they moved to Garrison, North Dakota, where he was employed at the grain elevator as the 2nd man. They moved to Sherwood, North Dakota, and also Tuttle, North Dakota, where he was the elevator manager, and then to Chinook, Montana. In 1963 they moved to Fergus Falls, Minnesota, where he managed the Farmers Elevator. After retiring in 1990, he continued to help out at several area elevators.
He was a member of First Lutheran Church, and the Elks Club, serving as the Exalted Ruler. He did a lot of charitable work with the Elks, including the Elks Youth Camp.
Bob enjoyed cooking, especially Sunday brunch at the lake as well as grilling, was a ham radio operator, and liked tinkering – fixing and building things. He and his family built his lake cabin on Jewett Lake. Attending his children’s and grandchildren’s activities and sporting events always brought special pleasure.
Preceding him in death were his parents, two brothers, Jack and Frank Dolan, and a grandson.
Survivors include his wife, Marian, of Fergus Falls; his children: Wayne Dolan, LuAnn (Reverend Dana) Holter, Barry (Kate) Dolan, and Dean (Kerri) Dolan; grandchildren: Chad (Debbie) Dolan, Adam Dolan, Erik Holter, Maria (Charlie) Nemitz, Olivia Dolan, Carina Dolan, Katie (Josh) Haus, Trista (Brendan) Giese, and Tyler (Sarah) Crabtree; 13 great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Barbara Dolan.
Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the church
Memorial Service: 11 a.m. Friday, November 22, 2013, at First Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls
