Roberta Mattson

Roberta W.  Mattson, 92, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Friday, July 20, 2012 at Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls. Roberta was born on September 18, 1919 in Baltimore, Maryland, the daughter of Henry T. and Roberta Mae (Crook) Ward. She grew up in Baltimore and attended school there. During World War II she worked at the Pentagon in the secretarial pool. In 1942 she married Raymond S. Mattson Sr. in Baltimore and the couple continued to reside in Baltimore until after the war, when they moved to Minneapolis, MN, where they raised a family of 4. In 1957 they moved to Minnetonka, MN.  She worked at the Red Owl in Hopkins, MN in the secretarial department and then at Fingerhut as Mr. Fingerhut’s personal secretary. Raymond died in 1977 and Roberta moved to Arizona. While living in Arizona, she worked at various support positions in a hospital in Tucson, AZ. She moved to Fergus Falls in 2001 after falling and breaking her hip and has resided at Mill Street Residence ever since. She enjoyed playing cards, especially bridge, pattern dancing, family camping trips and vacations. She was an avid reader and loved watching the Game Show Network. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Raymond Sr. and two sons, Raymond Jr. and Robert Mattson. Survivors include her children, Diane (Jeffrey) Lepp of Fergus Falls and Richard (Toni) Mattson of Marietta, GA; grandchildren, Sara Lepp of Fargo, Alan (Alissa) Lepp of Perham, Benjamin (Karen) Reynolds, Brandon (Terry) Reynolds, Jessica Story, Timothy Story; great granddaughter, Lauren Elizabeth Reynolds and daughter-in-law, Joyce Mattson of New Kent, VA. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Mill Street Residence. Visitation:   One hour prior to the service at the funeral home Memorial Service:  1 p.m. Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at Olson Funeral Home Chapel, Fergus Falls Clergy:  Chaplain Brad Skogen
