Robert “Uncle Bob” Irwin Tenneson, 99, of Fergus Falls, died Saturday, November 16, 2013, at Woodland Lodge in Fergus Falls.
He was born June 16, 1914, in Blair, Wisconsin, the son of Joseph and Gertie (Sather) Tenneson. He grew up in Harwood, North Dakota, and Carlisle, Minnesota, where he attended school. He later attended classes for Boeing Plant employees.
Bob served in the U.S. Army from 1942 – 1945, serving overseas for three years during World War II.
He married Mildred Schonkwyler, and they were married for four years. In 1950 he married Sylvia Page, and they were married until 1982.
Bob did farm work until getting a career at Boeing Aircraft in Seattle, Washington, as a sheet metal worker. He retired in 1975, and returned to Fergus Falls in 1994.
He was a member of the Sons of Norway, the VFW, the Senior Citizens Center, and Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
Bob enjoyed fishing, square dancing, traveling to Norway, and card playing at the Senior Center.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Joe and Gertie Tenneson, two brothers, Ernest and wife Selma Tenneson, and George and wife LaVerneTenneson, a nephew, Gerald Tenneson, and a niece, Carol Tenneson.
Survivors include his children, Sylvia (Ollie) Scott of Boonesville, Arkansas, and Pat Tenneson of Apache Junction, Arizona; three grandchildren, Jeff, John, and Jay; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be a prayer service at 2 p.m. Thursday, November 21, 2013, at the Olson Funeral Home, with a time to visit with family an hour prior to the service. Pastor Kate Bruns will officiate. Interment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.
