Robert Lee Robinson, 88, a resident of Fergus Falls, passed away on Wednesday, July 4, 2018, at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Fergus Falls from failing health due to age.
Bob (as he was known to family and friends) was born in Chariton, Iowa on November 10, 1929, to Clyde and Della Robinson. Upon his graduation from high school, he enlisted in the United States Army and served as a tank driver in the Korean War. Following his honorable discharge, Bob sought treatment in a hospital where he met a nurse named Josephine Zachar, who would become his wife. Together, he and Josephine raised two daughters, Julie and Joan.
Bob made his living as a lineman for Minnkota Power, eventually retiring after 40 years. For most of his life he lived in Fargo, ND, where he was a longtime member of the Elks club and the VFW, an avid outdoorsman and a friend to many. He was a wonderful father, spending countless hours teaching his daughters the finer points of softball and other sports, attending their games and meets, always encouraging them in their activities and taking great pride in their accomplishments.
Bob was predeceased by his beloved wife, Josephine; his parents; sister, Maxine; and brothers, Leland, Raymond, Herman, Clyde Jr. and Charles. He is survived by daughters, Julie Wicklund and Joan Robinson; grandchildren, Nathan and Haley; and great-grandchildren, Nadia, Brody and Harper.
A private service for family members will be held in Thief River Falls, MN, at a later date. Burial at Saint Bernard Cemetery, Thief River Falls, MN
