Robert Minge

Robert Kevin “Bob” Minge, 50, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Saturday evening, April 11, 2009, surrounded by his loving family and friends and under the care of Lakeland Hospice at the Broen Memorial Home in Fergus Falls. He was born September 11, 1958 in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, the son of Ronald and Corinne (Kvern) Minge. He was baptized and confirmed in First United Church of Christ, Fergus Falls.  Bob attended school at District #1498, and graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 1976. He attended Alexandria Technical College where he studied accounting. He served in the U. S. Army from March of 1981 until December of 1993, and was stationed in Germany until being deployed during Desert Storm serving in Kuwait and Iraq and the Persian Gulf. On September 14, 1996 he married Shelly Ferber at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. They had one daughter, Katie. Over the years Bob was employed at numerous businesses in Fergus Falls, including Service Food, Westridge Twin Cinema, Interstate Inc. (John Deere), and most recently for the past four years at Walmart. He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he sang in the church choir, was a member of the Trinity Lutheran School Board, and served as vice president of the PTL, played on the church softball team, and assisted with the church’s sound and video needs. He was active in 4H and was also a life member of the VFW, the Heart O’ Lakes Camera Club, and sang with the local barbershop quartets. Bob enjoyed photography, computers, all types of electronics, and reading. Preceding him in death were his father, who died in 1990; his mother, who died in 2002; an infant sister, Julie, who died in 1961; and his brother, Joel, who died in 2005. Survivors include his wife, Shelly, and daughter, Katie Minge of Fergus Falls; his stepfather, Marvin Mahler of Fergus Falls; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Vi and Carlton Ferber of Fergus Falls; a brother-in-law, Scott (Jane) Ferber and niece, Cecelia of Foreston, MN; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Visitation:  4-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and resumes one hour prior to the service at the church.
