Robert Duane “Bob” Miller Sr., 56, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Thursday, April 4, 2013, at the Fargo VA Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota.
He was born May 1, 1956, in Breckenridge, Minnesota, the son of Harry and Sarahlyn (Best) Miller. Bob and his family lived around the Breckenridge area until he was six years old. He moved with his family to Blaine, Minnesota until he left for the Army.
Bob served in the Army as a PVZ with Company A 57th Signal Battalion, serving until 1976. He received the Marksman Rifle Medal. This battalion was based out of Fort Hood, Texas. After serving his country, Bob enjoyed family and friends. He also enjoyed camping trips at Pine Ridge, fishing, and just spending time outdoors.
On December 30, 1991, he was united in marriage to Cathy Tierney, with her two children, Art and Sissy, by their side. They lived in Norcross, MN until 1996, when they moved to Breckenridge. They lived there until the flood of 1997. After the flood they moved to Fergus Falls where they have lived since.
In 2005 Bob was diagnosed with kidney cancer. After the doctors removed the cancerous kidney in 2005 he was in good health until December of 2012, when he found out that he had two inoperable tumors. Bob still enjoyed his life until he took God’s hand and went to his heavenly home on April 4, 2013.
Bob will always be remembered in our hearts as a brother, father, friend, and husband, and the fun and exciting person he was until the illness took over his body.
Preceding him in death were his father Harry on August 30, 2003, his mother Sarahlyn on December 18, 2011, his brother, Ronald “Ron” on November 8, 2012, and several aunts and uncles.
